Virtual Economies

This has been written about before, and I've seen it discussed at conferences, but there's an article in the new Walrus about virtual economies. As I've been recently addicted to Final Fantasy XI (sigh), I find this stuff even more interesting now.

interesting article. I knew people were using the net as an alter ego but to be able to use economics to show the impact it is having on society is really interesting.. it might not be as bad as that book 1984 with big brother watching you but it might be were individuals start using the net to interact with others and to go to work never leaving their home... oh wait there are people doing that now.. :)

hmmm I wonder what that says for us as a society..
