just for the books to the rest of the school the chior and theater programs are both at about the same level as the sucky band you talk of. and from that point i will say this, some people are unhappy with the acedemic performence of the kids in the school, however i also kno that nolan cant control the effeort that the students put forward. but about how hard he fought for funding for the performing arts program others wonder why he could waste is efforts on to some a lost cause. while he turns down a teacher, that i wont deny was brought in to coach football, for funding or permission for anything every time he asked. o but wait even without that we got off our buts and got our own darn funding and went and did somthing thats never been done at our school. so just think about that and that one of this years greatest achievements and nolan wanted nothing to do with it. again thanks

First off, it said "sucked" for the band. And it will say this more than once in here, with me replying, I think the band has some excellent talent, (erica, carney, audra, etc.), as does the choir (kristen, rachel, etc.), as does the theater program ( ... )

Um... Jay, not to be rude, but if you mean the forensics trophy, I DID go to state finals and I was the only one from our school to do so.

Wow Jay, I didn't realize you felt so strongly about this. I guess it really makes me re-think my views on Mr. Nolan. You are right. I might not like him, but he's a good man and has the hardest job I know of. I mean, he's strict, and a jerk at times, but he really has supported our arts programs. Lol, I just saw him this morning at the parade. I really want to thank you for putting this up. Thanks. You really opened my eyes.

First off, I'm agreeing with Steve. Both my Parents follow School Board politics pretty well and I'm in our 'Sucky' band, and I haven't seen that big of a difference from Nolan. Sure, He comes and sits threw our concerts (which a lot of teachers do) and sure he says 'Good job Band' every now and again. But half the time he doesn't even acknowledge us at Assembly's when he's talking about other clubs or groups. I think that it's hard for you to say something like that when you're not in the program. If I’m wrong, Please tell me how with some proof and I’ll totally take back this statement. But up until I see it, my statement stands ( ... )

I couldn't agree more. To further a few of Kacey and Steve's points, I didn't realize that the band sucked. Or that being said, I didn't know the the band what the only sucky thing in the school. I realize our band program isn't the best in the state, Petoskey probably is. And we're not the best in the county, Shores or Muskegon are probably up there. But considering what we have as far as talent and funding, we do a great job. No one with any brains would say differently. It can't be said that I'm making any of this up because I want to look better either. I'm in the band and know what goes on in the program. With that, I bid you all a good day.
