Well, seeing the success my brother has had with the Atkins diet and realizing I really need to drop some unnecessary weight, I am going to give this Atkins diet thing a shot. If only so that I stop eating crap and can use it as an excuse. Reason #1 my roomate thought he would be nice and buy a box of krispy kreme donuts. HE was nice, but I didn't ( Read more... )

I don't want to lose muscle, but tat other stuff seems like too much math and even though it doesn't really apply to me I am going to say that I am an English Major(which means I am not suppossed to be good at math.)

I don't believe in diets. Exercise is the only way to go.
If you want to eat heathier, just get the book for the South Beach Diet that tells you which foods are good and which aren't. Atkins may work, but it isn't exactly the heathiest diet. I know I'm not one to talk, but I really do know how to eat right, even though I don't do it.

hmm, i'm going to disagree w/ some of the above... can't see how a protein-based diet can eat away at muscle tissue (since proteins are the building blocks of muscle). The whole point of Atkins is to make your body work off the existing FAT, since that would be easier to break down into glucose than, say, protein. Anyway, i've known a lot of people who've done it (myself included) and have lost the necessary weight (15 lbs about 2 yrs ago) and been fine. Whatever you decide - go for it. and good luck. although, dan and i think your hot just the way you are. ;)

oh of course, I workout fairly regularly. Probably not as much as I chould but enough. At least, when I am doing stuff in season. out of season I just don't have the motivaton .
