Some changes...

A week or so ago, I mentioned that I was nervous about some changes that might be happening. It all worked out well.

I'm getting a new couch.

Actually, Steph and I are, for our new apartment in Kenmore together. I'm paying for the new sofa with the salary increase from my new job.

We're moving into the Trailwalk Apartments, a relatively new apartment complex in Kenmore. Its a really nice place with a great layout that's right on the Burke-Gilman Trail. The complex offers a pool, hot tub, workout room, secure underground parking, and lots of greenery. It abuts a greenbelt/wetland area that extends to the Sammamish River. It's also close to a number of parks accessible from the Trail.

Thankfully, the sounds of Bothell Way and the anonymous industrial business across from the complex are largely blocked by another building, making it pretty quiet. I wanted to move out of the city a bit; hopefully this is a good balance between the city's pressures and benefits. The Kenmore location also has another benefit: it's much closer to my new job.

Beginning on July 12, I am the Web Marketing Designer for UW's Bothell campus. This is a significant career step; I'm kind of nervous about it. I was surprised that they offered me the job, as I know that I don't have the marketing expereince that some of the other candidates must have had. I do, however, have more web delevopment experience than most, and do my best to make my designs easy to use while be easy on the eyes.

I will be responsible for implementing UWB's web marketing strategy via the website, which will shortly undergo a major redesign to better reflect the personality and future goals of the campus community. It other words, I'm gonna make it better. Instead of managing a website for a department (and doing all the coding, scripting and graphics), I'll be managing a website for the whole school, while not having to do the coding, etc. My job is to make the University's website a useful tool that raises the visibilty of UWB. Thankfully, there's an accomplished team of web developers and marketing staff that can help me do the job well.

As for the couch: it's 93" long, very poofy, covered in sage green suede and we're getting it on sale. It'll be here in time for the housewarming, which will likely be near the end of August.
