The Parting Glass

All the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm I've ever done
Alas,It was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now,I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass

::smiles softly:: I'm also of Irish heritage and love this song. Also, do you know the Irish Blessing? I bought a little something with that on it for my mother when I went to the Caltic festival because I knew that meant a lot to her from between her and her mother (who died before I was born.. I'm named after her) so that ties us together

I know.. isn't it strange how things like this bind people together. A friend of mine let me listen to his CD with this song on it. I have heard it before, and I love Irish and Scottish (also in my blood) music and life and it all makes me feel connected to a distance part of myself. A matter of fact I am listening to the song again. Its music and words are so beautiful it is amazing. Back to what I was saying, my friend let me hear it and I started talking to him about how much I love it and it's meaning and he told me his and our friendship seems "rooted". He said to me, "Not many of my friends understand this song, but you do." and then he said something to the like, that we have connected on a different level. He also has Irish decent. I think it is we connected on a root basis. Our heritage is very much apart of us still even though we may not be enveloped in it.

It's... strange...
