It is definitely a cliche. Perhaps I am giving it too much credibility by calling it an aphorism. Indeed, with dictionary.com in one window, and this in another, I cast it out, I revoke my any claim that infers it is pithy... terse, yes, but perhaps not an aphorism, or even an adage.

But I tell you now, if this has cost me that slice of pie, I will be upset.

If I had a dollar for every time I saw a T-shirt that said "... and all I got was this stupid T-shirt", I'd spend them on a T-shirt that said, "If I had a dollar for every time I saw a T-shirt that said, "... and all I got was this stupid T-shirt"...
