Monday night randomness...

So, I've been thinking. I changed a lot about myself in order to (I thought) better suit Kevin. He never asked me to make any personal changes and never seemed to desire them, but it made me feel more comfortable to change. I dressed a little younger, chose to forego wearing heels, and never wore anything but skirts. I've had an epiphany since ( Read more... )

Hurrah for finding a home church where you feel at home! That's such a difficult thing to do...but it's so good to have that place to worship, and it's so important to have a spiritual community to belong to. Hope that your desires for fellowship are met. :)

And go you for breaking out the denim and boots! I went through a phase where I edited my wardrobe too...it really is freeing to come back to your style. lol. Heck, I was beside myself with joy at finding a pair of Birkenstocks that I could afford and buy a few months back. My feet were very unhappy, and I felt severely edited down because my (then, latest) trusty pair of old sandals were worn down to the leather and unfit for public. I loved my other flats, but I felt like...someone else. Someone who wears grown up shoes. ;)

...and it's so important to have a spiritual community to belong to.

I've spent much of my adult life believing personal spirituality and rightness with God is all that matters. While I still believe that, I have come to realize just what an important role fellowship plays in our relationship with God and our relationships with others. The prospect of being held accountable and socializing with a spiritually in-touch caliber of people is exciting. I'm energized just thinking about it. :)

Accountability is indeed a good thing -annoying, sometimes, but good. What I can't live without, now, is belonging to a group that looks out for each other. The affection people have for each other -despite infrequnt contact - is like a little slice of the kingdom. Everyone needs a host of Molly Weasleys to swoop in when needed. ;)

You know what's funny is that probably most of the people on your f-list but me actually KNOW of those places. Well...I'm originally FROM Redlands so yea. Haha.
I was dressed up during the summer because of my weight loss but I actually rather like the comfortable shirt and jeans. I have half a closet full of sleeveless shirts and they're useless due to the weather cooling down...

Stick with your style because it's YOUR style :)

You're originally from Redlands? Right on. :) I just asked my roommate how far that is from Cathedral City and she claims it's between 45 minutes and an hour. Which is a vast improvement because Kevin lives 2 hours from here. I really need to think about refining my understanding of southern Californian geography. Eeep! What a task. *sigh*

good luck with the continuing relationship stuff...but what I really wanted to comment on was congrats on finding a good church! :)

I go on Wednesdays, too, when my schedule allows it. Not many people do...what church do you go to?

I've begun attending Calvary Chapel in the neighboring city of Palm Desert. We're studying the book of Matthew on Sundays and the book of 1 Samuel on Wednesdays. I really value the chapter by chapter, verse by verse approach because I think it's otherwise very easy to get lost in what the pastor has to say, and not what God is trying to say through his Word. Obviously, I'm completely excited to have found a home church. :)
