Tasty. (178)

Chapter 178, man. I need to officially buy this volume when it comes out, dammit.

Before I go on with my craze, just wanna comment that Inori is an awesome person. Clearly during the beginning of the match, Ango stood no chance against Inori, but he did it anyway for the sake of being able to fight a strong opponent. Come on dude. You ain’t the main character. Nobody would sympathize with you for being stupid. Apparently Inori didn’t either lol. When Inori had ‘utterly’ defeated Ango, Inori gave him a 75 value in terms of worth. Honestly, it was the highest number I have seen to date! But then Ango had to be stupid and continued to provoke Inori to continue fighting to the death, so they could both perish. Inori raged at this, and then dropped his swords, opting to use his fists to deal the finishing blow.

“DON’T BE FUCKING STUBBORNNNNNNN!” OMG Inori you’re awesome. And just smashes Ango's face with his palms. Course, he’s like 'wtf?!' faints. Then Inori reduces his value to a zero for being an idiot. I don’t know whether Inori’s doing it out of respect for his opponent to value life, or disrespect because he’s not letting him die gloriously (probably the second option huh). I'm just surprise that Ango didn't die lol. Like, what's the value in keeping the guy...

Then Manjirou thinks to himself that the only person who can probably stand a chance against Jinsuke is probably Inori right now… you know, the more I see this, the more I worry that something might happen to him. Because there is no freaking way that the main character ISN’T going to face off against the ANTAGONIST of the story, especially if it’s like. One of the few things Gama’s living for right now. I'm not sure anymore whether Jinsuke wants to duke it out with Gama or Inori…

ANYWAYS ANYWAYS OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG HYPERVENTILATING HERE. NAOYOSHI IS BACK WITH RANMARU OMG I COULD JUST DIEEEEEEEEE.

[Super fangirl time]The scene goes back to some rando shouting to kill Ranmaru and Naoyoshi (wasn’t he the same guy that was saying Ranmaru’s powers shouldn’t be underestimated a few chapters ago? What a weak ass lol) but then Ranmaru did the good’ol chop chop on him. Ranmaru states his words again, that NO ONE will LAY a FINGER on NAOYOSHI-SAMA. Course, Ranmaru is starting to run out of breath at this point. Well Naoyoshi said there were more than 10 people in the room… there were two bodies on the floor… Naoyoshi has TIME to converse with Ranmaru… maybe Ranmaru killed at least 9 or all of them. Anyways it’s probably not the numbers that’s making Ranmaru go haggard, but the fact he’s mentally strain because he has to keep Naoyoshi close to him. Or maybe it is number thing. I can imagine all the randos ganging up on poor Ranmaru.

Naoyoshi notices Ranmaru’s condition and inquires again. He’s going to be executed soon by Ranmaru and the others anyways (OMG COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN THAT WAS THE CASE LOL), so why is Ranmaru protecting him? Even if it’s his duty, to go to such an extent… (awwwwww)

Naoyoshi sweats as he waits for Ranmaru’s answer. A pause.

Ranmaru: “You are the same as me.”

Naoyoshi: “What?”

WHAT. OMFG WHAT DOES THIS MEAN. SAME LONELY PEOPLE? SAME PEOPLE WITH FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER?!!!!!!!!

Ranmaru “We were people who no longer had any merit to others…”

Kyuuuuuu this would make some sense, since apparently (I mean, it's pretty obvious) Ranmaru had a pretty solitude childhood as did Naoyoshi (from the resentment he received from his brothers). But this still doesn’t explain what that has anything to do with Jinsuke. I mean, did Ranmaru already have the intention of saving Naoyoshi before the execution? Because he could relate to Naoyoshi? But what about his perfect loyalty towards Jinsuke? AND what has that got to do with Ranmaru in the first place? I don’t go saving every dude I find just cuz I can relate to them. UNLESS… DUN DUN DUN. HE’S IN LOVE OMG IT’S A CONFESSION

Naoyoshi seems to have a revelation because he was about to say something but then BAM, some large noise and out pops Gama.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK

This is like the second time Naoyoshi’s been interrupted. WHAT DID YOU WANT TO SAY TO POOR CONFESSING RANMARU DAMMIT.

Naoyoshi tears up JUST at the sight of Gama. Yep. Just ignore poor confessing Ranmaru.

Ranmaru’s slightly in shock, but then again, was he not expecting Gama to show up? Maybe not that soon…

Gama had that Inori look on his face, maturing by tenfold whoa. I’m sure he wanted to just run over to Naoyoshi and embrace him (as probably Naoyoshi to Gama…) but he had to keep it cool and play the mature seme eh?

They were already in their own little world, staring at each other.

“Let’s go, Naoyoshi-san!”

Un! Take me in your arms Gama! --> would be the most likely response from Naoyoshi LOL

BUT BUT. Don’t go fantasizing now. The last frame had Ranmaru’s face and he’s FUMING PROFUSELY.

Last caption: After riding through numerous hardships, the reunion of two people. But beside them a quiet enemy burning…

I have to wonder to myself, is Ranmaru fuming at the sight of seeing Gama, or because his confession keeps on being interrupted? Hehe. Well either way OMG I NEED NEXT CHAPTER PLOX NAO PLZ.

Okay, a more serious insight this time. I was just rereading chapter 174 to see if Ranmaru has mentioned anything about Jinsuke’s plan in any of his speeches like I had first assumed for some reason… like. Ranmaru is protecting Naoyoshi for the sake of fulfilling Muhou school’s goals of controlling Unabara using Naoyoshi as a figurehead. But… I just realized Ranmaru didn’t mention anything of that sort… just that he won’t let the Bakufu succeed in their plans. And I was kindly reminded (please, it’s really not my fault. It was like what. 80 chapters ago?) that the reason Oogame school was infiltrating the castle that particular night was because Naoyoshi was going to be executed soon. This point really got me thinking.

Did Ranmaru somehow change loyalties throughout his duty as Naoyoshi’s escort? By no means does Ranmaru give great respect to Jinsuke, treating him for almost like a father. But that point completely collides with Ranmaru’s zealous into protecting Naoyoshi. If Ranmaru does use that reasoning of being ‘the same’ to protect Naoyoshi, will he hesitate if Jinsuke orders Ranmaru to kill Naoyoshi? Again, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around that point.

Now if that was truly the case, of Ranmaru believing that Naoyoshi and himself are the same, then perhaps Gama’s entrance would really trigger a (jealous hehe) response in Ranmaru, because Naoyoshi would be snatched away from him, as in, Gama is giving Naoyoshi value to live on.

Won't that be nice. Hgggggh I can't wait for the next chapter already.
