Farm Fresh to You

I just signed up for a fresh produce delivery service. It's like the CSA program I know mcsassypants and kastinkerbell have written about, but it's called Farm Fresh to You. Xaroth was not so sure about the idea, so we're starting small. We're getting the small box of fruits and veggies once a month. It's about 8-9 pounds of fresh produce. We ( Read more... )

I think starting out small is wise. We split a share with somebody last summer and it got overwhelming at times even with that. I'm also jealous of the delivery aspect. To be honest, there were times I came to resent having to make the trip to go pick the stuff up. This was particularly so when it was week after week of giant bags of green beans (which are fine, but we just couldn't go through them all) or bunch after bunch of beets (which I just can't turn into food). The week they delivered fresh corn was when we were out of town.

If we had gotten it once a month, we may have been able to avoid some of the repetition as well as have some time to work through some of the items. Then again, if we had been in California, I'm ure we would have gotten a much better variety!

Anyway, you should take pictures of your deliveries!

The other nice thing is that I can completely manage my account online. I can set my preferences to exclude certain items. So, if I discover we don't like beets, we go online and check a box and will never receive beets again. I think it's pretty amazing. It's also year-round, the biggest benefit of living in California.

I will definitely be taking pictures of our deliveries, and writing about the new recipes we're trying. I'm so excited!

Ok yeah, you totally just upped the jealousy level a factor. That sounds extremely awesome.
