Very nice! I think you did end up consistent and coherent, so good on ya.
One thing I found satisfying is that for basically any given character, you can ask yourself, how did it all end up for Kara/Baltar/Tigh/Roslin/Adama/Boomer/Six etc etc? and there seemed to be an answer for each one. It's impressive to find so many loose ends tied up, even if they were ultimately paired with an overly pat and simplistic ending (I agree wholeheartedly with you on "the unanimous response... was uncharacteristic of a fleet that was so willing to argue over every other decision.")
And finally, yeah, "God did it" left me rolling my eyes a bit. But seeing as how we've been delving into utter geekdom by watching all of Deep Space 9, I've come to expect that of Ron Moore.
This is my feeling at well, that all the major characters had complete arcs that felt right to me. And listening to the podcast, I guess they also filmed flashback sequences for Chief, Boomer and Helo before the fall, which will be on the DVDs. I'm looking forward to those. I think the flashback sequences worked really well as a framing device in the finale, bringing it all back around full circle to who these people are and where they've been.
I'm really psyched for the extended versions of all the episodes, since it sounds like most of the last half of the season got cut down pretty severely. The flashbacks were so surprising, but I thought they worked really well.
Thanks! I was actually under the impression that DS9 was mostly a lot of space battles with Klingons and Cardassians. I didn't know they did a lot of "God" stuff, especially since he pretty much stayed away from that in The Next Generation.
Are you in that dreadful lj BSG forum? A lot of people with the 'If-you-don't-think-exactly-like-me-you-are-stupid-and-invalid-in-life.' attitude.
The final for me was 'eh.' But, I didn't expect a lot because the show always had major, major writing problems and I felt the directing and some of the acting largely carried it.
Fortunately, I managed to miss that particular forum, and while I'm tempted to ask the name ... I really don't need to know, do I?
It's strange how uneven Battlestar was over its run. It could be so good one episode, and really terrible the next. It sounds like you might not be interested, but listening to Ron Moore's podcasts was really enlightening about the process of making the show, especially the writing and editing. It really changed my opinion about the whole fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants approach to making the show.

Well, yes, obviously, but that's not my point!
