There are a couple of news updates from me that some of you may or may not have heard.

1. I recently got engaged to a wonderful woman, ladyrocheforte, and she accepted. No specific information yet on dates yet, other than fall next year

Thanks... The job is not exactly where I wanted to be, but the faculty market was saturated with people this year. Out of over 200 people in the market, I got one of the 50 or so jobs available, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, the industrial research market hasn't picked up yet either, which was really my only way to stay in the area. Not that I really wanted to be an industrial researcher, but if it had kept me in the area for a bit longer, I would have taken it.

I've always wanted to do the prof thing. I'd much rather have done it a bit closer to this area, but after I get tenure, it should be easier to move to a more desirable location. With a better startup package.

It is most excellent that things are going well for you. I wish you the best of everything. We'll have to discuss just how far Louisville is, but that is for a time when you are not quickly getting your stuff together to move.
