Exeter

After a rather hellish day yesterday (just work/not enough staff) I had a day off today, so treated myself to a trip to Exeter, our nearest city. It's only 40 minutes by train and just over £5 for a day return.

Instead of browsing the shops as usual, I wandered around the parks and gardens

It looks a nice day there. I had no idea there were Roman walls. When I next visit my sister I am going to ask if we can go to see them :)

I love Exeter. There are display and interpretation boards in Northernhay and Rougemont gardens, and also in Princesshay shopping centre.

It's a lovely city - quite small and compact, but with lots of history.

How lovely! I could walk upright in the tunnels, regretfully. Am under-tall, more's the pity.

That looks like a really good day. Somehow it hadn't occurred to me that Exeter had Roman remains - that is my new thing learn today already!
