A Free Agent

It's bittersweet but I resigned today. It took a fair bit of effort but I gathered my courage and gave my one week's notice. The boss looked surprised and then said "Ok". He sounded pretty pleased, I'm sure they were just waiting to get rid of me ( Read more... )

Well, I have to say that I am very pleased to hear that...you've not been happy there, and you DID work hard, in spite of that fact. So it should be a loss for them, because at least you gave it a red-hot go, against the odds.

I hope that something far more suited to you comes your way soon...but at the very least, you had a real shot at this one, even if it wasn't quite your cuppa tea!

Good luck - and well done...life's too short to toil away at a job you hate. Now, if the right job comes along, you can get right in there and have a go at that!

Thank you, I needed to hear that. I've been thinking ever since leaving this afternoon that perhaps it was unwise. I appreciate your comments, particularly about the working hard part.

It is true that life is far too short to toil at a job I hate and it was progressing very quickly towards disdain. The trick is finding that right job, I'm afraid. A big upside is now I can have lunch at a regular time rather than wait until I'm allowed.

you can get right in there and have a go at that! That is indeed the plan. I think I'll give myself a week or so to recouperate. This feeling mistreated whether actual or imagined has soured me to a job for the moment so I'll treat myself to some me time but then I'm planning pro-active searching for that right job and I think I'll be less likely to settle. This experience was the very reason I had ( ... )

Congrats on getting it done. I know it sucks to not have a job now, but it really sounded like there was very little point continuing, and the money was barely compensation for the hassle and stress. Good luck with taking a break/getting back to searching!

I admire you for resigning- that's SUCH a tough thing to do. But hey, now you can move on to the next great thing? ;)

Thank you. It was difficult, yes, but I always swore to myself I wouldn't get stuck in a job I despised. If I ever said "I hate my job" and mean it then I'd leave so I did.

But hey, now you can move on to the next great thing? ;)

Yep, that's the plan. Let's hope it's not too hard to find.

Sorry I missed you when you were up my way. It's annoying how I missed out on seeing you and my brother because of work and now I'm free a week or so afterward.

I just watched Spike combust over the weekend. Finished off my DVDs. Went straight through from Seasons 1 to 7 over the last few months. Maybe I ought to get Angel one of these days but I don't remember enjoying that as much as Buffy.

Enjoy your Christmas time.

This is unrelated to your post, but I just need you to read the rules and agree to #5 before I can approve your membership to bjt_fan. Thanks! :)
