Yuletide and AO3, wooooohoooo!

I have my Yuletide assignment. I am very pleased with it and think I am going to have lots of fun!

And...I now have an account on An Archive of Our Own to archive fic on! I've uploaded most of my one-shots already, but am nervous about the multi-chapter things (of which I have several!). I'll have to find out how those are going to work ( Read more... )

Yep, I got mine too! If you're not too busy, would you mind doing a beta for me this year? I always enjoy your constructive criticism.

Oooh, I'll be sure to go check it out! :)I've heard really good things about Of Our Own, so I'm thinking of setting up an account. I've probably written enough fic at this point to warrant an archive.

I would love to do a beta for you! Just let me know when it's ready!

And go get yourself in the AO3 account registration waiting list! It doesn't seem to be taking very long after you sign up: which you can do here.

Thanks! And thanks for the link. It's funny that at this time last year I had never written any fic before. That Little Shop of Horrors parody that I wrote for Yuletide was my first fic ever. And now I have an 20,000 word bsg epic, several good-sized ficlets in various fandoms, and even a few drabbles. Time sure flies when you're having fun!

So, how are you doing on NaNo? I've stalled, but I'm happy with what I've done. To be honest, there was quite a significant research component that I didn't really factor in when I decided to do it. But that's okay, because it was really interesting and I learned a lot.

That Little Shops of Horrors fic was so funny! What a great way to launch into ficwriting.

As for NaNo...there is absolutely no way on earth I will make 50k. But I've written more than I thought I would, mostly because I took a "Hey, do random segments all out of order without worrying about it making sense!" approach.

I think research is the key! This year, it was a spur-of-the-moment decision to sign up. Next year, I think I will prepare a plot outline and do some research ahead of time, so that all I have to worry about during November is writing.
