Sarah is superbly cold, calculating and wicked. I'd dearly love a show down between her and Ros. Imagine how the sparks would fly ( ... )

My favorite episode of S8 so far, too! It's even converted me into a Lucas fan! (I liked him well enough before, but I could take him or leave him. Now? I'm genuinely interested in him.)

Ruth and Harry on the bench were heartbreaking, really. But not overdone. Just the perfect balance!

I like Tariq, too. I'm sure he'll continue to grow as a character.

I feel so incredibly alone at the moment. I seem to be the only person who still loathes Sarah. lol.

It's a strange feeling!

However, I can see the appeal of a Ros/Sarah or a Ros&Sarah. Also, Lucas/Oleg. My god I am actually seeing the possibility of slash. This NEVER happens. *shakes head in disblief*

Bizarro feelings all round here.

Well...the way I see it, the villain is the engine that drives the plot. If you have a good one -- and Sarah is a doozy! -- it means a fun ride. So I loathe her and love her at the same time, if that makes sense?

I'm the same way -- not into m/m slash at all, usually. In fact, I generally am fairly indifferent to most male characters. But there was some real chemistry between those two! Yowsa.

I agree with you about the villian thing completely. It's just Sarah herself. I cannot explain it to myself at all. It is so weird. I LOVED Juliet in Season 6; I thought she was brilliant and that was against my ALL-time favourite character, but Sarah just... maybe it's the voice. Ros was bad(ish) on her introduction to Spooks and I loved her from the get-go. Same again for Bellatrix in Harry Potter etc. etc. But Sarah... I wish I could explain it, I really do.

But I seem to be exactly the same with the m/m slash thing. I too am generally indifferent to most male characters (the exceptions there are few such as 'death' in The Book Thief and Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights) but those two just seem to fit. Great acting on both their parts I have to admit.

I hear you, definitely. I wonder if part of the problem for you may be the quality of the acting -- Genevieve O'Reilly is a bit flat, even disregarding the shaky accent. Honestly, I think what I loved so much about that balcony scene came largely from the sheer audacity of the killing, combined with the really spooky way the scene was filmed -- it gave the character an ooooomph that the actress herself wasn't necessarily responsible for. And while I think I'm going to enjoy Sarah now, she's no Juliet, I agree! (Anna Chancellor can act circles around Genevieve O'Reilly, which makes all the difference. It's a shame you haven't seen S4, where Juliet was in her prime.)

The moment she threw him off the top floor was when I said to myself, "Fair enough. This won't be another Tom Quinn/Christine Dale type of relationships. I may like this." In fact, I'm in complete agreement w/ you on the similarity between Sarah's actions and Connie's epic cruelty inflicted against Ben.

Season 8...going off a tangent here but I am missing that Series storyline arc they tried in Season 6 and Season 7, which was by far their best in that format. And they're rehashing storylines (no brainer) although there's a different twist about it. I'd probably say this season so far is very dark and lacking in some sort of witty humour they once had in Seasons 2 and 3.

Even the conversations w/ Harry and Ruth seem broken and more fragile than ever before...

You're one of the few people I've seen mention liking the arc of S6! But I thought it was good to see them try a genuine season-long storyline, both in S6 and 7. This one seems a bit derivative (didn't we have the secret society in S6?), but if Christine Dale 2.0 has taught us anything, what seems derivative this season might turn out to be something else altogether.

Even the conversations w/ Harry and Ruth seem broken and more fragile than ever before...

Yes! Especially on Ruth's part. She's very brittle, just on the edge of bitter. It's an interesting (albeit sad) dynamic to watch, though.

Yeah, I liked Season 6 because it tried something different in the form of an overarching plotline w/ the Iranians.

And then it was perfected (in my opinion) in Season 7 w/ the Sugarhorse Arc. And let's not forget the introduction of the original Spook by the name of Lucas North - the man who was before Tom Quinn, Adam Carter and Ros Meyers.

The thing w/ Season 8 is that I personally don't know what the story will be overall but you're getting bits and pieces and you're curious because it could be very much a plotline structure that's in line w/ Season 6 and 7.

But I'm just hoping...;)
