Yo, swatkat24! Or anyone who knows Sarah Connor Chronicles fandom...

Mar 04, 2010 20:17

Thanks to swatkat24's prodding, I've finally finished watching all of The Sarah Connor Chronicles (yes, I know I'm late...I tend to be that way with most fandoms).

So! I'm ready to begin exploring. Can you give me the lay of the land, fandom-wise? Where should I look for fic? Any other good fannish resources?

yuletide, naturally. Other than that...it wasn't written much. We have a few recs on PolyRecs, and there will be more whenever the next update gets done.

I will look in Yuletide! (And add it to my list of fandoms to offer come December....) I'll also be sure to check out PolyRecs!

Oh, geez - I SO miss the SarahChronicles... I loved that show. Curse the frickin' network idiots...

Sign me in, too - that show shoulda made it, and if it'd had a better slot, it would have survived. (Um, "Dollhouse"? I love the twistedness of the plot, but that whole Joss/Eliza thing makes me wonder if THAT'S why the show survived...)

I really need to get some sleep...

It's a horrible shame it got canceled! People would rather watch ridiculous reality shows, it seems. *Sigh*

I seem to remember it was between Dollhouse and TSCC. Dollhouse wins, but is cancelled a season later anyway.

Sort of like Dark Angel and Joss's Firefly back in 2002. FOX likes to pit the expensive scifi shows in the terrible Friday night slots. Why, I'll never know.

There isn't much, as nestra said. I'll take a look at my bookmarks folder. The show's the kind where you merely stare at it in mute supplication and think, 'we are not worthy', you know?

But there's SO MUCH people could write about! The multiple futures alone give you pretty much endless AU variations to work with! (And my God, if a series ever CRIED OUT to fans to help resolve things, this is it!)

But, as I mentioned in a comment below, maybe there isn't much fic because it isn't very shippy? I mean, there *are* pairings, but they kind of disappear in the enormous shadow of the plot and the worldbuilding.

I don't know, I actually see John/Cameron being posted regularly. Which I do not care about, at all, so I haven't really gone looking. As well as some John-centric futurefic, I think. It's Sarah I'm interested in, and I'm afraid there isn't much of that.

John/Cameron...meh. Although you could do some twisted things with it, which might be interesting. All of the potential pairings are pretty seriously warped, really, although I suppose I should never underestimate fandom's ability to turn things into happy bunnies and baby!fic.

I want to read about all of the characters! They all have such interesting stories in their own right.

Would you rec it?

I would very much rec it!

It's not very fertile ground for pairings -- of any kind, really -- which may be why (from what everyone else is saying) there isn't much fic. But it's a terrific series. Quite a lot of characters and multiple plotline threads (especially toward the latter half of S2), which surprised me (in a good way).

well, I'm a sucker for strong women (heh) and post-apocalyptic settings. So it makes perfect sense, no? I wonder why I didn't dabble in it before. Good to know it has two solid seasons.

It has 5 major female characters, 4 of whom I would describe as badass. (Three of them only show up in the second season, but the first season is quite short.)

I wrote something, but LJ won't let me post it because it's too long. (Note to self - raise some hell!)

Anyway, check your e-mail - I'm sending it. And as for your other questions, I have no idea where to look. If you find a really great place, please tag me - I just loved that show. FOX dropped the ball in major ways on this one.
