What is the attraction here? To my very jaded eyes, it's a cheesy rip-off of Xena, and oh, it has Bruce Spence. Why is it so great? I watch it, but I guess I'm missing the whole "everything-but-Bruce-Spence" factor.

Closest I can come to it is "Robin Hood" with Michael Praed. But it doesn't have Michael Praed, or Judi Trott, or the late Robert Addie... So - sell me on this show. It's the only reason I'd stay up to watch a show on a Saturday night.

*Throws down gauntlet - gently, because, well, I have a banana for a backbone*

Well, I'm not sure if you can really call it a "rip-off" of Xena, given that it's by the same TPTB. (Can they rip themselves off?) In any event, yes, it's very much in the same style. And that's part of the attraction for me -- it's silly, sword-and-sorcery goofiness filmed in the gorgeous scenery of New Zealand, with lots of leather-clad women kicking ass in awesome fight scenes ( ... )
