I'm definitley majoring in English. I'm not sure what my emphasis will be (i.e. literature or writing), but I'm going to become the ultimate lit-nerd and I'm super excited!
congratulations on all those accceptances!krazylisakApril 2 2006, 00:50:21 UTC
UCLA
you'd be in the city of angels it's a lot cheaper there's ALOT more diversity here than in scripps
i don't like scripps because it's soooo white. you could count the number of black girls on your hands, and every other minority is even less. it's all girls. yeah i'll probably be going to an all girls school next year, but it's still a strike against it.
but then again scripps has a good writing program (right? i don't know i feel like you said that) and you'd get alot more individual attention whereas at UCLA you'd have to fight for a seat in a math class (á la stacey's sister).
so yeah. sorry this comment is so long and useless >_

Thank you, Lisa Kelly! :)
Scripps's writing program is actually... nonexistent. I would have to design my own major in order to pursue writing extensively. I could major in English and then take writing classes at Pomona and Pitzer (the only two Claremonts that offer creative writing classes), but it would actually be harder for me, academically, to pursue creative writing at Scripps than it would at UCLA.
The primary reason I'm debating between these two schools, however, is the individualized attention (as you mentioned) and the atmosphere of Scripps. I loved the girls there, even if (as you also mentioned) everyone is white. :-P
Depends on what you want to do. At Scripps, you'd get A LOT of personal attention. You'd be eating with your professors. You WILL get heard in class. I think that's the main difference between UCLA and Scripps.
Agreed. That's definitley true. Being on Scripps's campus vs. UCLA's campus is also a huge difference as well. Scripps feels like a Spanish oasis and UCLA feels like a grand, East Coast (minus the cold weather :)) institute of higher learning.
