looking for input

i have never seen the movie "blade runner" and i'm getting ready to put it in my netflix queue (somewhere around #60 which means i'll be watching it this time next year). for those who have seen it, should i rent the director's cut or the theatrical version (which has the narration by Harrison Ford's character)? the user comments on netflix lead ( Read more... )

It is a divisive issue. I think I've only ever seen the theatrical version. And that was only a couple of times so I don't know if I'd even know what was different.

I've only ever seen the theatrical version as well. It's been so long since then I'd be lost.

I actually did a study of this film for my philosophy class, but alas, that was another lifetime ago! I can barely remember what happened yesterday, let alone 11 years ago (wow!). I've only seen the theatrical version and I enjoyed it.

John on the other hand has seen both. He said they are 2 completely different movies. The directors cut is more like the book, the theatrical version is more like and old-time detective story. John said he would select the directors cut, simply because it has more "stuff" on it and may even have both versions of the movie. He "loves" both versions and we own the directors version.

i'm probably going to get the theatrical version and then maybe in another year get the director's cut. so, two years from now you can all expect a full report and analysis.
