A while back, the TV that my parents had in the living room started getting these wonky bars (no, not wonka bars. there were no golden tickets. bars that were wonky) across the top couple inches of the screen

Wow, they really should replace it. No, noone will buy it. They are better off loading it in a truck and taking it down to the transfer station. Donate it to the Salvation Army.
Yah you could and it would be nice of you but at the same time is it worth it?? I mean they prolly should get a new TV and from the sounds of it an entertainment center too. I dunno get them a new TV for one of their birthdays and then let them deal with the mess and entertainment center. Not your problem ;)
yeah, no one had any intentions of selling it. once a replacement is gotten, it's going in the trash (well, most likely dropped off at the transfer station for a $5 fee)
