The closest I come is the middle one, "I hope there's a 2D...", but to say I haven't been impressed with 3D at all would be untrue. I really enjoyed Avatar, and I liked Chronicles of Narnia. I've found with movies that were shot in 3D that I've seen, it's either been very nice or on par with my normal viewing experience. With the ones where they do the 3D in the post production, the 3D is crap and I really dislike it, finding it distracting from the movie as a whole.
For my wife, the answer would be "It gives me headaches".
I saw Avatar in 2D. I've tried to watch 3D but it makes me get a little sea sick, which is weird because I'm not horribly sensitive to motion sickness, only in extreme cases (went whale watching on a very windy day once, that did the trick. ;-))
But yeah, in 3D or not, I'll probably end up watching ST 12 in 2D for that reason.
I'll end up seeing it in 2D because corcalamus gets really bad headaches off it. However, if it comes out and the reviews of the 3D effects are very favourable, I won't strike off the list the possibility of seeing it a second time in 3D either with someone else or on my own.
I'll see whatever version is avaible still has seats for the 4:30 showing. I'd rather see it in 2D first then 3D. That way you can pick out the small things in 3D. Do you think they'll have Gordy type visors for the 3D glasses? I'd have to keep them.
When I went to see Deathly Hallows 2, they had glasses shaped like Harry Potter's glasses. Except they were small, and were too small for my eyes. The lady was shocked when I asked to switch to the regular glasses.
It depends. Some 3D movies have been really good (although the format seems best suited to animated rather than live action). Other movies have been better in 2D. I trust Abrams. A big issue is also how dark a movie is. The Deathly Hallows 3D wasn't amazing because the movie was so dark, and 3D by its nature makes movies darker. So anything that starts dark is going to look too dark in 3D.
And I'm totally the opposite of you. Everything makes me motion sick (I can rarely do IMAX, and only if I sit at the very top). But for some reason, 3D doesn't make me sick.
You'll have to let me know how the 3D rates, when the time comes. :-)
I might attempt to see it in 3D, after my first viewing, but I really don't want to spend the duration of the movie feeling woozy when it's Trek, and something I really, really want to enjoy my first time around, so that initial viewing will definitely be in 2D.
