'Undiscovered Country' is 20 years old today. Yay 'Undiscovered Country'! The related article. Though this kind of makes me feel a little bit old, to be honest. I remember seeing it in the theater with friends... *sigh*

But my lamenting the fact that twenty freakin' years have passed, oh my god, really?! aside, Star Trek 6 marked the last time we ( Read more... )

Isn't it nice to see a group publicity photo where it actually looks as if all the people were in the same place at the same time to pose for it? *nostalgic sigh*

It's awesome, isn't it? Got a little bit choked up when I googled "Star Trek Undiscovered Country images" and was going through pictures looking for just the right one. :)

Wow, 20 years...and just think Wrath of Khan would be 30 next year.
I mean I haven't been around for the release of any of the movies (except the 2009 one) but the longevity of these movies is just so fascinating.

Isn't it wonderful? They are certainly timeless. 'Wrath of Khan' and 'Undiscovered Country' especially. :)

Still, 30 years old... *whimper*

I love this movie. It used to be my favorite. Wrath of Khan and First Contact have edged it out now, but it still makes top 3. I love the idea of peace with the Klingons, I love that this is their last adventure, I absolutely loved Christopher Plumber, and the I love the music. This movie is awesome.

Definitely in my top three as well! It's a great film, had something we haven't really seen in a Trek film since... it was a parable, just like 'Wrath of Khan' was.

Totally agree with you, awesome, awesome movie. :)

wow 20 years, well i went to see the search of spock! and the wrath of khan, but i was very little by that one), ( I have a controversy with my brother about it, but i say we went to see it months after the actual us gala, like star wars 2, but he says that is not like that, well idk) I remember very clearly when i went to see TSFS because i was older.

and i loved TUC because is fantastic! all of it!
maybe the vulcan Girl wasn't really 100% Vulcan?? but i understand the double penetration with hate mindmeld, Spock was trying to save his husband and he is too much territorial and strong emotional about it. but i pitied her a little

I know, right? Twenty very fast, blink and they're gone, years.

Ah Valeris... to be honest I didn't really have much sympathy for her, because De (as McCoy) looked so frail in that movie and orchestrating events that would place him and Jim on Rura Penthe was just not cool. Not cool at all. But yeah, I do have to admit that mindmeld was rough *wince*.

Sympathy in general no, but i remember when mirror spock did that to Bones and he was more gentle than Spock was with valeris
is like a mindrape for information and that was the part when i pitty her a little, because Spock had rage and must be difficult for him not to fry her brain, because i know he wanted to, and she felt it like he almost did it.

Rura penthe was too much for Bones, even Jim was better in it that poor bones.

but really i can't understand if really valeris was a full vulcan?
because all the treason thing is contrary to surak beliefs
i think she is at least half vulcan very lost, also her name is strange.

I know! Isn't it hard to believe that it's been 20 years already?! Where on earth did the time go?

If you want to do a rewatch this weekend, bb, I'll join you. We can have a virtual viewing party! You game?

Awesome! What would be a good time for you? Would you mind if I made it an announcement (I'll list you as the idea originator and my co-conspirator)? I'm thinking maybe others would want to join us. :)
