Of Hobbits and Star Trek Admirals

So I woke up this morning, still battling with the previously mentioned 'cold of terror' (because the damn virus is not going away already) and my husband, bless him, turned to me and said, "I found something that will make you smile."

My immediate thought was 'not likely' complete with lower lip protruding pout and mildly exaggerated huff, because I keep taking nyquil, which I hate because it kind of makes me feel like an extra in 'Zombieland', even though it's not working on this cold for some reason (immune to nyquil, wtf, body?! when did this start happening?!) and yes, I'm fully aware that there is a lesson in here somewhere about not taking things proven to be useless but I'm such the eternal optimist I keep hoping it will miraculously work this time. Anyway, he turns my laptop around and viola... an official Hobbit trailer. Yeah, I'll give him this one, he was right, I perked right up.

And if that wasn't awesome enough (and even though most of you already know this) there is talk of Bruce Greenwood returning as Admiral Pike in ST 12.

I really liked Admiral Pike in Reboot, so this also makes me happy. In fact, I was surprised at how much I liked Pike in Reboot. I was expecting to kind of hate him when I went to see Reboot the first time because I didn't particularly care for Pike in TOS. Yes, I'm firmly aware that "The Cage" was made in the sixties, yes I know it was a different time and all that, but this line here...

Oh, she does a good job; it's just that I can't get used to having a woman on the bridge.

...still makes me want to hit him, repeatedly.

Although Majel's (Number One) look in response to Pike's blatant sexism is priceless...

heh, her glare as she turns away in a huff never gets old. Anyway... yay Bruce Greenwood.

Wednesday is turning out to be... not so bad, you know, for a hump day. ;)
