Pokedex Update and Nostalgia Warning?

Mar 07, 2010 22:55

Because I can.

My FireRed cartridge now has 380 pokemon. I am missing:

#139 - Omastar
#249 - Lugia
#251 - Celebi
#367 - Huntail
#381 - Latios
#386 - Deoxys

Celebi and Deoxys, basically, are lost causes. Celebi was available at a Nintendo Event in 2006, and Deoxys was available in ONE CITY. We do have Deoxys, but for Diamond and Pearl, and you can't go back.

Omastar and Huntail can be caught via Stephie's games, when she gets around to working on them. Lugia can be caught in Pokemon XD on the Gamecube, which I have yet to start. Latios will require either purchasing Pokemon Ruby, or starting my Emerald game over. Lugia and Latios will probably take the most effort apiece.

Who else gets really excited about Pokemon? Joanne! So I IM'd her--it turns out she has a Celebi in her Pokedex, but it was a temp trade. It would all be a touch easier if we knew other folks NEARBY who played Pokemon.

It made me a little nostalgic for college, when I would spend lots of time chatting with folks online, or hang out... Folks with similar interests. But then I realized a lot of my memories of college are very fuzzy. That's kind of depressing.

In real life news, Steph and I both got new eyeglasses this week. Steph's prescription changed quite a bit, but she looks adorable in her new glasses. I just changed a touch. It's always interesting changing glasses, because it's like a new look on reality. Everything is subtly different. It reminds you how the world you see is not a perfect copy of the world that is. Memories are like how I see the world with my glasses off: what's right in front of me is pretty well in focus--if I squint--everything else is shadows and blurs.
