Due to various reasons, we decided that now is the right time to buy a house. Holy shit this is stressful. I think it would be a lot less stressful if we had a lot of money. I need to go win the lottery.

Good luck! It's a great time for buyers, to be sure. Avoid short sales if at all possible; I've been trying to buy the same condo since August. The foreclosure just got postponed for the second time while the banks try to sort out the paperwork to release the seller's first and second mortgage. If it goes through, I'll be getting a great deal. If it doesn't, I've wasted six months of my life.

The majority of the houses in our price range are foreclosures or short sales. My realtor warned me right away that unless I have a strong stomach for it to avoid short sales for this exact reason. Sadly, that took away about 60% of our options.

Buying a house, having a baby, getting married, three of the most stressful things in life. You've done one, might as well get the other two out of the way.

I didn't find getting married to be stressful. I mean, aside from worrying that I was going to look like crap in the photos. This whole baby/house thing is a level of stress I don't think I've experienced since I left Utah and crashed on Tristyn's couch without a job or a plan.

It's made worse by the fact that as soon as we have a house, Joe will be attempting to change jobs.

Oh, and my cat that I adore is really sick and doesn't seem to be getting better, and I know a family secret (Joe's side) that I wish I didn't know and all hell is going to break loose when it's finally disclosed. It's been a rough week.
