Basically, Chanyeol is an angel. His job was to somehow improve or change Baekhyun's outlook on life. His purpose and motives were to befriend and love him as a friend but not as a lover (but that's up to interpretation

this was really interesting! i thought about what chanyeol was exactly and i was thinking he was like a spiritual vessel to teach baekhyun a lesson but still a human being and then, i was really confused with why chanyeol was denying him, and when his head disappeared after he was executed. and then it made sense when you said he's an angel and all the biblical references, everything clicked

At first I had some difficulties to understand the details of your story because english isn't my mother tongue so... I admit I struggled ^^". But I read your answers to the previous comments and it conforts me : I understand that Chanyeol was an angel ! I thought that he was Baekhyun's guardian angle but maybe Chanyeol isn't so "personal" to Baekhyun.
I love your story. I don't know if we can consider that it's an happy end (Chanyeol died and cannot live with Baekhyun TT) but the last sentences made me smile. I really hope that Baekhyun will be happy and learned to open himself a bit more to others (but Kyungsoo). Maybe, when Baekhyun will be old and die, he'll meet Chanyeol again and live with him until the very end.

"Maybe when Baekhyun will be old and die, he'll meet Chanyeol again and live with him until the very end."...That is actually a very comforting idea! It is now my personal head-canon. Baekhyun grows old and dies and lives in heaven with Chanyeol. Now it's a happy ending indeed! :)

i just came across this and this piece is really beautiful i tell you ;;
i love the set up of the story!
at first i thought chanyeol is some sort of messenger, well, an angel is a messenger too, right?

and it's kind of heart-wrenching at the last moment when chayeol was abt to get hung ;;
also, does an angel rly hv to take baek away in a "journey" to change his perspective?
