Well if you do watch S5 then it will spoil part of mid s4 and will explain why this season starts the way it did.

The whole plot line of the first episode of S5 and the whole arch of this season is concerning Jack ties directly into what happens in the second half of S4. Therefore, if you want to be spoiled about what happens to Jack and part of the events of the last half of last season, then watching S5. I wouldn't watch it because it would ruin some of the impact of last season and you might even be confused by premiere.
