I am sitting at my computer waiting for my kids to come home.  It will only be the second time they have walked themselves home.

As a mum, it is sooooooo hard to let go and not be waiting at the gates for them.  They are ready to walk home themselves and want to walk home themselves, so I don't want to stop them.  It doesn't stop me worrying, or ( Read more... )

I'm sure they'll be fine - the eldest is a sensible lad and will make sure the youngest is okay. Are they walking with other kids as well?

My eldest is a sensible boy. He told his brother to stay out of it when the b**** and her sister from down the road ran to catch them up and gave him grief. Needless to say he wasn't in a happy mood when they came in. Which is a real shame as
they were enoying their independence up until that point. Lets wait and see what happens tomorrow.

I'm guessing that they're home by now. I hope their walk home was uneventful, and that you're feeling better. :o)

Interesting you mentioned it. In the last three weeks I noticed an increasing trend of parents walking the kids to school. Or older kids holding hands and guiding. Of course, it could be I just haven't paid attention before....

It is possible as everytime you watch the news there is either a child missing or an update on a missing child. As a parent it is hard to find a line between protecting your child and letting them have the freedom to grow up.
