As I mentioned in my last post, we had the rare luxury of private rooms in Te Anau, so that was a lovely night’s sleep there.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get to savor it for very long because we barely had time to eat and shower before bed.  Then it was hitting the road again early in the morning.  Too bad.  Needless to say, we were all pretty quiet ( Read more... )

HOW do you remember such details so long after the fact????

Well, I'm sure there are a few details that are still missing, like if I really had ramen or if it was pasta that night. But...dunno. Guess it's just a gift. I'm glad you enjoyed it and have seen that movie before. I'm told from Kiwis that his accent is awful, but I liked it all the same. Don't worry, there's still plenty to revisit about Stewart Island, so you'll get to "see" even more of it soon. Thanks!

Love it. Great description of life on the island with everything slowing to a much more manageable pace; contrary to the pace most of us experience. I'm sure the expression "no worries" comes from island people and quite possibly Stewart Island. I can see why many people would want to skip Stewart Island since there's "nothing to do there" but I'm really glad you were able to appreciate and enjoy the peacefulness, beauty and tranquility it offered. Loved it and love you, Dad

Cool! Thanks for reading - I know it was quite long this time. It was hard to capture the same vibe that I got from the island, so I'm glad at least part of it transferred over to you. Look forward to Part II and Part III sometime in the near-future! They should come along much faster because I've already talked about the town and island in this post. Cheers!
