I like the quotes. Jefferson is one of my favorites. As sort of the philosophical founder of America, he is a great source of quotes.
Indeed, commerce between slave and master is despotism. Unfortunately, our great nation has a rich history of corporatism and this Citizens United ruling is only going to make things worse.
I am hopeful that, perhaps, they have finally started going too far. There is, I think, a rising awareness of the corporate bias in the government. I'm hopeful that some real legislation and regulation is somewhere on the horizon.
I think that the one of the most ignored and important debates is on net neutrality. My understanding is that the FCC has had some backroom meetings with the telecom companies, most likely to write regulation that could really empower them over consumers.
