So is Hell's Gate pretty serious or is it darkly humorous or what? For minute I thought of trying a Yakuza character behind bars or some other character.

Weeell, it's a multi-fandom game...i.e. you pull characters from popular media into the game (such as bleach, FFVII, or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, to name a couple of characters currently in the game), so it's going to be a ~little~ cracky.

That said, we're trying to keep it as serious as possible, as well.

Just how involved is this puppy? I don't want to app and then leave someone hanging because I can't be on more than once or twice a day, but at the same time, it sounds entertaining.

If you're only able to post once or twice a day, that should be fine. A lot of people post more, but if you're not able to get through a thread on a certain shift (each shift lasts about 3 days, except the nightshift which is considerably longer) you can always backthread with them, and nobody's going to care all that much. Rule-wise, you're considered idle if you don't post once every 3 days.
