I still remember where I was when this happened. I was in my dorm, sleeping. I woke up briefly to find my roommate at the time sitting on the computer, telling me that the first tower had been hit. I was in school, 8th grade, with the image suddenly flashing across our screen in the Tech lab. Teacher had us shut off everything and go to classes early. Then - and here's the real kicker - the principal ordered none of the teachers to tell the students what was happening. Thankfully two of my teachers had enough common sense not to listen and explain. It was good that they didn't tell us about the Pentagon (hadn't happened just yet when they explained it), because I knew people there and did lose some family friends there.

It's worse that like... the instant that the ceremonies were over? The protesters were back! If they're so opposed to it, and saying that it's for the families and friends of the loved ones who were killed, they they should show it better than that! Protesting on this day of all days shows just the opposite of caring and concern for those people! I may not agree with the Mosque being built, but I agree less with protest - whether by burning texts or just standing with signs - on the memorial day.
