Belatedly Observing Christmas

Bah. I've sat on the following post for more than a year now, cos I wrote it too late for chrismas '12, and forgot to post it in time for Crhrismas '13. Meantime, I've kinda drifted away from LJ again )MUST catch up soon!), so let's compensate a bit with a sort of ghost of my former presence. Besides, on re-reading it, I really like this one.

I know this carol. My parents have a lot of choral music they play around Christmas, and this one comes up often enough. I like it, I thought it was pretty. ...I never heard the lyrics closely enough to realize what the verses were saying.
