So you tell us you spent fifty dollars on cds, but don't mention the titles? Egads, man, that's an egregious breach of character.

Well then, let me repair the breach. I bought Death Cab For Cutie's new one, Plans (with which I am the happiest); the Libertines' first one, Up The Bracket (with which I am not too push on -- there are some good songs, but all in all, I don't like this band nearly as much as Orly); a Baby Shambles single as a gift for Orly; and finally, the Louis XIV disc The Best Little Secrets Are Kept. That one's not bad, even if the singer is trying too hard to be nonchalant and cool on a few songs.

I would have bought The Strokes' Room On Fire cd if I didn't think Orly was giving me that this week for my birthday. Somehow I managed not to buy that one last year...

I was always mildly dismissive about the Strokes, but now that the fervor has more or less died down (or not, I don't know, having been out of the record store game a bit), whenever they get played at work I find it most enjoyable.

Thank you, Dot. Five more days, and then I'm going to get my complimentary yard of beer! If I can remember where that was...

The yammering of the hype machine is also what delayed my giving the time of day to The Strokes. But I really do like the songs.

And Orly surprised me with something different (Bjork's Volumen Plus dvd), because she knew I thought I was getting Room On Fire. Tricky girl, that one.
