sweet jesus, that is obscene! I hate when my car needs fixing because I inevitably come out of it feeling I got screwed somehow. I usually will take it to one of those "free estimate" places to find out what's wrong, lie and say I don't have the money and will be back in a few days, then call around for another price. Somehow I still feel I am getting bilked. I have taught myself how to do the basic replacements myself lately, but I can't do any hard core work. Grrr to mechanics!

Yeah, but stuff like that, dealerships usually have the hour estimates on labor correct. Some places just estimate on labor, and if it takes them less time, they're not going to charge you for the time under that they did it in, but they'll charge you if it's over.

they can't get one over this beyotch! I haggle and deal until I get what I want at the price that I want. I think they give in just to shut me up. ;)
