Character Name: Jazz Fenton
Fandom: Danny Phantom

Character History: Jazz was the first child born to Jack and Maddie Fenton, a pair of ghost hunters fixated on studying ghosts and the effects of ectoplasmic energy. They were loving parents, but always a bit distracted and preoccupied with ghosts, which required Jazz to learn to be attentive to her surroundings at an earlier age than most children are, particularly when her parents would experiment with using ectoplasm powered cooking equipment.

This need was especially true when her parents had Danny, and even at her early age, Jazz decided that it was her duty to look out for her little brother, which included, at one point, beating a Christmas turkey to death that had been animated by an ectoplasm powered oven before it could hurt Danny.

This was not to say that she wasn’t a child. She had her stuffed animals which she loved, particularly Bearbert Einstein, which she still has to this day, and would get in fights with Danny when he messed with her toys. Still, by and large she looked out for Danny, and would typically do what she thought would be in his best interest.

Jazz always did very well in school, and always enjoyed studying, feeling energized and empowered by knowing things. She particularly liked learning because she liked when she knew more about things than those around her, and she absolutely despised being wrong about anything and learning everything seemed to be the solution to that. Due to this, she was at the top of her class all through school. However, she also took the time to maintain her long, perfect red hair, do her make-up, and ensure that her appearance was pristine. After all, she wanted to be perfect, in body as well as in mind.

While the other kids had little interest in her bursts of psychobabble and intellect, or the fact that she considered herself a natural psychiatrist from her years of helping Danny deal with their crazed parents, her cheerful disposition and good looks did gain her some popularity, enough that she would later be able to use that to get Danny invited to a party.

At the time, Jazz didn’t know what happened, but at age fourteen, Danny began drifting away from her and the family, and his grades began dropping, and she was concerned. At first she’d have never suspected the truth of why this was, particularly since she didn’t believe in ghosts until they began making regular and very visible appearances in Amity Park due to the ghost portal their parents built. However, one day she saw Danny change in front of her, though he didn’t realize that she was watching, and she realized that Danny Fenton was the ghost, Danny Phantom, that had been showing up regularly in Amity Park.

After Danny saved her from Spectra, Jazz decided to pretend she didn’t know it was him, and to let him tell her whenever he was ready. That was a few months ago, and since then, Jazz has been following Phantom’s secrets, making up lies to tell their parents when he’s away, and waiting for her brother to feel comfortable enough to tell her who he is. She doesn’t mind that he keeps it a secret, either, as she understands completely after hearing their parents talking about tearing him apart ‘molecule by molecule’ why he would be afraid to tell anyone.

Character Personality: Jazz considers herself a natural born psychologist. She naturally takes to understanding psychological concepts when she studies them, she’s used to dealing with her ‘crazy’ parents who are constantly going on about ghosts, as well as being able to keep her brother fairly sane. Of course, this doesn’t mean she doesn’t respect her parents, she does, and she loves and cares about them as well. she does realize that they weren’t really totally crazy, since ghosts turned out to exist, and a lot of their inventions are the work of real genius, she just wishes they wouldn’t target Danny so much.

Jazz is very protective of Danny, both for his physical well being and his psychological well being, and will do what she can to try and preserve both, sometimes hitting her parents’ weapons when they’re about to shoot at Phantom, and making sure she’s there for him when he needs a listening ear. When she found out that her brother was Danny Phantom, despite the fact that she was itching to talk about it, she decided to let him come to her and tell her when he was ready, feeling that that would be better for him. When they heard their parents talking about dissecting Phantom, Jazz hugged him and kissed him on the top of his head protectively, saying that she understood why he kept so many secrets. He didn’t know what the context was, of course, but it was her own way of trying to give him comfort without possibly spooking him by telling him she knew what he was.

Obsessed with being perfect, Jazz, maintains her looks and mind alike. She studies frequently, absorbing and memorizing information, analyzes and strategizes well, and takes pride in speaking in a proper and educated manner as well as in knowing everything. In fact, if there’s one thing she absolutely hates, it’s being wrong. Due to this, she can come across as a know-it-all, as she’s often happy to demonstrate what she knows, and refuses to admit that she’s fallible.

Despite her constant derision of her parents’ ghost hunting career, part of her is genuinely curious about it, though her concern when they mention going after Danny Phantom is very real, part of her fantasizes about helping her brother fight ghosts. This is the case particularly because she does worry when he goes out to fight ghosts, but feels like there’s little she can do about it.

This concern also combines with the sheer pressure of keeping such a big secret. Jazz is immensely proud of Danny, but since she decided to tell no one, she can neither express that nor the frustration of her parents and other people accusing him of doing bad things that she knows he wouldn’t do. She also has kept a scrap book of all the positive news stories she can find about Danny Phantom.

Once she arrives in Nautilus and discovers that this is no longer a secret, she’ll be bursting with enthusiasm since she can finally speak about it and openly help Danny. However, due to her relative lack of experience with dealing with the supernatural in a hands-on way and her tendency to think she’s capable of running the whole show, she likely at first will get in the way more than she helps Danny deal with things relating to his ghost side.

As a side note, Jazz is generally very bad at coming up with puns, as well as at naming things, occasionally ignoring the fact that they may already have names, like when she comes up with names for ghosts.

Network: Naturally, having woken up in a strange city that doesn’t quite seem to be from the real world, the first thing I did was try to understand it, and I thought I’d share what I noticed with everyone so we could compare notes and so anyone who was wondering about this place might have their questions answered.

Firstly, I’ve noticed after extensive studying and mapping of the area, that the main roads in this place are laid out like a spiral. I think I’ll just call this place the Spiral Kingdom.

Anyway, when I tried to follow one of these roads out of the city, I saw a big white void beyond. I thought of trying to go through it, but since I didn’t know if it was safe, I decided to hold off for now. Does anyone know what it is? What happens if we try to go through it?

Also, I’ve observed a very, very strange phenomena that seems to deny the laws of physics, and considering what I’ve seen in my lifetime and accepted, the fact that this is grabbing my attention is really saying a lot. Through most of the city, the sky looks normal, but in one area, the sky is red. This wouldn’t be so weird, except for the fact that I’ve noticed two moons. Again, this wouldn’t be so weird. It indicates that we’re not on Earth, but since I already suspected as much, it’s something I can accept. The weird part is that everywhere else, there’s only one moon at night. How can a different number of objects be orbiting the planet in one part of the city than another? Are there dimensional portals through the city that are stable enough that we can pass through them without noticing, but consistently end up in the exact same place as we do every other time so that it creates the sensation of simply walking down a street when in reality we’re transversing universes? If not, then what exactly is happening?

Lastly, I noticed that some of the usual laws of physics and...well, reality don’t seem to apply in the same way here. Early, when I was hungry, food just appeared. It tasted perfectly normal, but I do wonder what the psychological ramifications are of having what you need simply appear as you need it among people used to a culture where people would typically have to earn money to pay for these things. Is it similar to someone suddenly winning a whole bunch of money, or are there differences?

Well, those are all my questions, I guess, so...discuss!

Third Person: Jazz woke up, stood up and, looking around at the world around her, bit her lip. Something appeared to be very, very wrong. For one thing, she definitely was not at home in bed, and her first thought was that some ghost had discovered Danny’s secret identity and kidnapped her to use as a hostage. However, Jazz quickly quieted that part of her mind and decided she’d go about this in a calm, logical, scientific way.

So she was in a strange place, probably taken here by someone. Someone who was nice enough to bring her laptop, neatly tucked away in it’s case so she could sling it over her shoulder and carry it around easily. Getting up and settling the strap of her laptop on her shoulder, Jazz started down the road. She saw buildings and people and...was that a robot?

Well, she thought, if there were people around, she could always ask what was going on. She wasn’t sure if anyone would help or not, but she didn’t have any other ideas, and at least by talking to someone she might get some context as to what was going on. Approaching the nearest person, Jazz reached out to tap them on the shoulder.

“Hello? I’m sorry to bother you, but...Do you have any idea where we are?”
