It's been a busy week (and day, month, year)! I feel physically exhausted, but at the same time, don't really remember being happier. Everything is falling into place, but it just seems to be all at once, so for the moment I'm overwhelmed. It's far from a complaint, though.
First off, we found a venue and set a date! Whew! We were able to narrow down a date during my fall break and happened to be the one single fall date that worked for all of the key attendees (including the two of us). With such a narrow window, it was a daunting process, but we actually had a couple of excellent options, so the decision was pretty easy. It's a busy time in the northeast, hotel-wise, with autumn in full swing, but we were able to get out early enough notice and secure enough space for out-of-towners. Yay! I'm really excited. Yeah, there are still plenty of things to do, but the major hurdles there have been leaped (the venue also comes with a coordinator... awesome... and may be why they won over the other venue we'd strongly considered).
We also found a new home, with pretty perfect timing. P was able to get out of his current lease so we could start early and I have a month overlap during which I can get my stuff moved and have time to come back and clean and tie up any loose ends. Onward and upward. P is taking vacation to come up, during which he wants to help me pack up, etc. What a sweetheart (since he has his own place to pack up before coming down). We've changed our travel schedule this month several times (including where we'd spend his birthday), but it was easy to set it more in stone once we locked moving dates, etc.
As if things weren't busy enough, I started a new freelance gig last week. It's enough to take me through my current lease and it turns out they can use me until I start school (awesome). It's a relief that I don't have to go job hunting again in the midst of everything else. I may continue to do some work for them when I'm in school, but I need to play that one by ear. I hadn't planned on working my first semester, but we left the door open. It would be pretty easy stuff for me, so may be a perfect part-time thing. Whatever it ends up being, I'm LOVING the work-at-home diet. I tend to forget to eat unless my body actively tells me to. I'm going to have to start setting an alarm for snacks ;-)
Another in the column of pluses, I have a grant that's paying almost my whole tuition for the year, so it'll mostly be fees, books and living expenses. That will certainly cut down on the student loans.
So, head spinning in about 8 different directions, I feel all right. It's the a good kind of hectic.
