DO followup with jobs. basically a week or so later call them and say, I put in an application with you and I'm wondering when I might be able to come in and discuss it. OR if you submitted it online a good subterfuge is to ask whether they got it.

Thank you..I'll do that. And yeah, the robot thing, as I said, was just plain weird. I do some strange things when I get scared sometimes.

You're the furthest thing from a bad person. Always follow up on jobs! It shows them you want it. Also--it's illegal for previous employers to give out information about your work ethic. The only thing they can tell them is how much you got paid and how long you worked there.
