temperature frustrations

My roommate is from a warmer climate than I and we are having trouble agreeing on the ideal temperature of the apartment. When she's finally not "freezing cold" (please!), I'm sweltering...and when I'm finally comfortable, she feels like an ice-cube. This is very frustrating ( Read more... )

bring in the energy issue. tell her to purchase long underwear and wear it.. they even have silk longies...and tell her to go thrifting and get sweaters.

and point out that if she turns up the heat, it will cost more.

She can always add clothes. There is only so much you can take off. Tell her to suck it up. :(

Thanks, she says she's going to get a space heater for her room. She did admit that, even in her hometown, she always kept the heat higher than anyone else, so she's chilling out a little.

Oh and actually, heat is included in the rent, so it doesn't technically cost more. We have some control over the radiators, but getting the heat blasting ,or to get it to stop blasting, involves calling the landlord. Ugh. He's usually pretty stingy with the heat, which I understand and appreciate. We don't need our living spaces as warm as we think we do (in my opinion).

Anyway, things should get better once she can give herself 80 degree weather in her room only.
