It is annoying, for sure. I like knowing that i didn't get the job. The University jobs, I get rejection letters or emails. They are required to. For other jobs, I usually don't get anything.
I wish it were still common etiquette to send out rejection emails. I don't care if it's a generic "Dear Applicant....."
I interviewed at a law firm about 3 years ago and was rejected and they sent a very sincere rejection letter. While I'm sure it was a form letter, it was still very kind. More people need to show that kind of class.
The best letter I got was from the University of Utah. It was a personal email, not a generic one. It made me feel at least a little bit better about my interview.

I got the generic rejection e-mail, too.
That's more than Jenny's gotten with any of her applications. Sucks how few employers send out those kind of things anymore
