I'm getting my iud changed today.  I'm changing to the expensive one to hopefully help my extremely painful periods.  The appointment came up kinda fast, and I'm not prepared and a bit nervous.  This doctor is going to use an anasthetic, but I'm still nervous.  Have to tell myself that the aftermath will be no worse than my period would be a week ( Read more... )

I've been thinking about getting one. Going back on the pill has helped with the fairly severe and previously undiagnosed dysmennorhea, but now I get estrogen withdrawal migraines. My gyn has really been pushing the Mirena, but at the time of my last appointment I was out of decision-making spoons and put it off. Maybe next time.

It definitely sucks...to get it inserted, and to have the old one removed. I have a tendency to go into shock really easily, so that made it much worse. But I'll keep you up to date on how it's doing. My consolation prize is that those were hopefully the worst cramps that I'll experience for 5 years. And they were like MY normal period cramps - just with the psychological setback of "something else is making me feel this way ( ... )
