Jazzy reads (what?) and a request.

One of my (unsung) resolutions for this year is to try and read more in general. Since 2008, I've done nothing but read newspapers, periodicals like The New Yorker, or The Atlantic, various comics, Wikipedia articles (and their links) or knitting patterns/techniques (I am thisclose to conquering lace knitting. I completely and utterly agree about the POV for the third book. I realize she kind of locked herself in, but it didn't work for that bigger scope, especially with Katniss's weaknesses. I also agree that Katniss was not notably selfish. I had some issues with the third book, because I think Collins was having some trouble battling realism (the state of Katniss's mind) versus good storytelling, and this was one of those rare cases where they really worked against each other. Katniss was rightfully messed up, but reading about that is hard ( ... )

In the third book, I expected to find out what happened in the capital when Finnick started to tell his stories. Also, I wanted to know about how the shortages affected the pampered citizenry of the capital, or even President Snow and what he thought about Katniss and commander Coin of District 13. If Collins was seriously wedded to her first person pov, or GTFO, she could have even had a space of omniscient narrative (like something directly from the capital not necessarily doing it through Katniss eyes ( ... )

King's pretty much has told all the stories that he needs to tell. But I do find his wrtings on culture to be pretty okay.

No, I haven't read the Anthony series. Is it still a WIP? I find that after George RR Martin (read all his song and fire series only to discover that it's STILL NOT DONE), I am waiting for the books to be finished first.

Katniss isn't a Mary Sue at all. No one likes her (apart from say, her suitors, and even they tend to get angry at her at turns). The first two books worked for me, the last one, not really.
