I ended up canceling my pre-order and buying local for +$55. I wonder if that was WOTC's plan? :(

The boxed sets just seem to be what's behind - I had friends get their PHB and DMGs that were ordered separately (the only MMs ordered were in the boxed sets). I'm still too cheap to cancel and buy them here, since 45% off is still really nice.

I doubt it--since WotC is the wholesaler, presumably the retail price shouldn't matter to them. Though they might have given Amazon a bulk rate or something.

Definitely only the box sets are affected--I got my PHB (ordered on its own) pretty quickly.
