The worse part is that I don't remember what happened. I have spent a good deal of time going over it in my head, always coming up blank. I was on my way to the climbing gym; going down the hill on Van Ness. At Eddy, I had gotten a head start on traffic and had a green light at the next intersection. I find it rather ironic you made it across the country without a scratch and got hit during a short bike ride.

I'm glad you were wearing a helmet--you were an item of "thanksgiving" in church on Sunday.

Hope you're recovering OK. I'm looking forward to a hug on Friday/Saturday am.

This is not ironic. It is a bit funny, maybe an odd happening, but not ironic in the real sense of the word.

Now, if JD had been heading to a party that was celebrating his massive journey across Canada without any cycling injuries or accidents and then this happened--boom, irony.

So I looked up the stats on that. In San Francisco, on average, 1 cyclist is injured in traffic every day; only 2 are killed each year. My odds are still pretty good there. Bicyclists are much safer than pedestrians.

Where'd you look this up? What are the stats on pedestrians? Did you compare on a per-capita basis, since there are more pedestrians?
