If you fly JetBlue SFO-BUF, that would "only" cost you $580 roundrip, and they're not sold out yet.

Flying trans-border is generally more expensive. I think part of the reason tickets to LHR are more expensive than YYZ is because when you simply change international flights in Toronto you might not have to pay airport, immigration and/or Transport Canada fees.

Yeh, Pearson is one of the most expensive airports in North America to land or take off from due to all of their ridiculous fees. I'm not sure what all the fees are for, but this is what my dad has told me, and he worked there as an air traffic controller.
