I need to find something to do outside of the computer, I'm trying, I really am, but I simply can't shake my hobbies. I'm a gamer, I love playing games, but I am by no means addicted to it. I have found that MMOs lose their fun when you don't like playing without your personal group. So for instance, I barely play WoW unless Kim is logging on with me because it just isn't as much fun without having our group running together.
And finally, probably most importantly...
You know your crew. I've only every spoken to, who, Andrew? Maybe one or two others. Point is that I have learned from our past projects that you and I can develop wonderful things but without a team that will keep its momentum we always sputter to a stop. And they never keep their momentum. From Crimson Blade to the various Darkseed incarnations to Born of War to Darwin to beyond... if one of us, usually me, falters then a downward spiral of disinterest forms. It takes too much micromanagement out of us to keep your usual team interested in what we are doing. And since they aren't my friends, that usually all falls on you.

I've put Darwin on the backburner for now, I need a lot more time than I have in order to develop the storyline, background plot, and setting. Its going to be something I end up doing eventually, because the concept is so good, but I just don't have the time now (and the team that's interested).
But we talked about something good tonight, and I think I may go that route. I'll start off slow at first, getting the client running on normal telnet, and then move from there. It'll be interesting simply because its never been done before (to my knowledge) and providing an open source SDK might just spurt enough of a movement to bring life back to the MUD universe.
