If God had a name

If God had a name, what would it be.

If God had a middle name, would it be Coincidence?

I love it when people attribute parts of their life, their "blessings", or their experiences to God.

Would people having those same experiences, but believing in a different god be having those experiences purely by coincidence . . . or maybe they were just lucky ( Read more... )

The Southern Baptists would tell you that those who believe in different gods but have the same set of 'miracles' happen in their lives are being blessed by "God" even though they don't believe.

It's that all-encompassing word they love..... "Grace".

It's like when I got in to an argument with the Mormon Missionaries on my doorstep 9 months ago . I asked them how they "knew" their experience with god and the book of mormon was the only true way.

One of them told me "I prayed and had a feeling from god that it was true."

I said "So you got warm fuzzy's and now your here on my door step to tell me to believe in your warm fuzzy's. How about all the warm fuzzy's that billions of people around the world have about their own religious experience? What makes your warm fuzzy better then theirs.

After stumbling over their words for a bit they basically admited that it's all they had, but quickly added to that "but it's all we need"

They left soon after that when I think they realized they couldn't win.

Like it didn't help that you used to be a mormon, right? I know you enjoyed that moment. ;)

Warm fuzzies!.. I like that one :) I'll remember that.

I always get irritated that many religions blame some type of demon, devil or otherworldly being for the bad things they do. To me it's just blameshifting. But that's my 2 cents. I'm one of those with the idea that I believe in the core aspects of Christianity but get angered at the hypocrisy found in most organized religions so would probably never be able to commit to one. None of them ever seem to look at the common factors of the religions rather than the differences.

God's middle name is Harold.

"Jesus Christ, Harold be thy name."
