I always have fun at the conference, but this year was particularly great. I think it was because every two minutes, I would bump into someone I knew. It's amazing how big yet tight-knit our writing community is! And Jo, your speeches (and your books) always make me cry--in a good way. :-)
I'll never forget your 2013 crystal kite acceptance speech where you asked all your friends from your first conference to stand, followed by everyone who considered you a friend then to stand. I still get shivers thinking about it...
Aw, thanks. One of my former students found me after and said, "What would you have done if nobody stood up?" And I was like, it's NESCBWI. These are my friends. :-) That was really special day.
I don't have an audience in mind when I write. Thinking about who will read it is the fastest way to give myself writer's block, or at the very least tone down my imagination. Then again, I haven't been very successful on the publication side either.

It went by way too fast and I didn't get to see/spend time with 90% of the people I hoped to. Wow. It just flew! Can't we do this twice a year??? :-)
