I'm so glad, Sherry! Thanks for posting. And even if this isn't exactly how you wind up ending your story, it's reassuring to have a vision to writer toward. Right? I love it!
Hi Karen! Thanks for sharing. My first reaction is that this feels like the beginning, not an end. He feels as though he's just starting a personal journey. Is that your intent?
Creative writing comes in spurts for me (mostly due to lack of time and too much work), but I greatly enjoy Teachers Write! This prompt certainly primed the pump and gave me some inspiration for scenes that would have occurred earlier in the narrative. It was easy to I turn the photograph and just allow the vision to come and the words to write themselves. Thank you again!
I love this so much, because it reminds me of Daruma dolls. With the Daruma doll you fill in one eye when you set a goal for yourself and fill in the other eye when you have reached your goal. When you have an end goal in sight it is easier to achieve it with direction

Ooh, intriguing!!!! I like the voice here a lot! It doesn't seem like it would end with the elbow grab, but I like that you have in mind a surprise to this sort of somber end. You've got something really solid and vivid to write toward. Great work!!!!!
