I couldn't have said it any better myself. Another issue is with people getting pissed off, and not telling the concerned party directly via talking, email, telephone, or IM. Instead, they post it on a public message board or weblog, so that everyone can see. At times, I'm left wondering if the comments are directed at me. Public libel isn't cool, (according to Simon, slander is spoken, libel is written.) Anyways, I have been guilty in the past for doing stuff like that. I hate that. I don't get it.

It's like, you go to someone's livejournal and there's one post from five months ago that says "omg lol this jurnal is freinds ONLY so if u want to read it u hav to let me kno!! :hugz:!"

I think part of it is attention whoring, since it seems like most of the time when I take the bait and say "Hey, add me, you're sort of cool," that person turns out to be a complete drama whoring bitchface (case in point: soju). It sort of makes them seem more mysterious and elusive, and being on the list makes you part of their own little internet subgroup of which they are the leader ( ... )

OMG TEH JSOLA!~

When i said privacy shielding, I meant the option that says "invisible to users not on my buddy list", or something close to that. And the systematic manipulation, with constant removal and adding of people in order to send one or two inflammatory lines, and then removing them, thusly giving no recourse to the second party.
